So the Samsung S4 released over a year back. and wow what a phone. I had to get my hands to one. and so I did in July 2014.
One of the stand-out features it had was that it featured an inbuilt IR blaster, for handling control of every day appliances around the house.
It was surely cool. It came shipped with a native application called "watch on" which allowed me to control my home theatre, ( ONKYO) , TV ( LG) & Apple TV. But since the DU Set top box was not working. none of the remote codes would work. I can tell you I did try a couple of them.
several request for assistance to the software team behind the app, did not get me any reply.
since the most I wanted the remote is for changing channels on the STB, I never bothered much about the application, until I found that the remote of the STB finally gave up, and there was no easy way to press the OK key, without seriously impairing your fingers. and the kids or the mom just couldn't press Ok. ( center button on the remote)
I gave it another try, this time I was clever to look underneath the set top box and voila I found that the set top box was from a Taiwanese / Chinese company called TATUNG
I sat to reconfigure my watch on on my S4, and it was done under 2 minutes flat.
I was changing channels & changing volume right from my lock screen on my S4..
all I can say is a BIG THUMPS UP!!! hope some one who has similar problem can try this and let me if they met success.
